Stone Sour - Corey Taylor Avalanche Tour 2011

Corey Taylor, Avalanche Tour 2011

Corey Taylor has announced that Stone Sour is currently working on their upcoming fourth album. From the looks of it, its going to be a double album. When asked about the upcoming album in an interview with Artisan News, Corey had this to say

“The thing I can say is that it’s like little bits and pieces of the first three albums, but it’s very dark. I’ve got a story…it’s almost a concept album that I’m writing right now — and it might turn into a double album. There’s a lot of really good material that we’re all kinda coming up with and I’m really excited to get in to the studio and see what happens.”

Stone Sour also has put up one of the songs off of the new album up for free download off of their Facebook page. I’ve listened to the song a few times, and all I can say is that the song is my favorite since 30/30 150. If the rest of the album can keep the energy of Pessimist, then this is easily going to be the best album that the band has put out yet.

It will be interesting to see how the album progresses since James Root and Corey Taylor will also be touring in Slipknot this summer for the Mayhem Festival. Since Slipknot has stated that the earliest that we may see another album from them is 2013, it will be interesting to see what the rest of the band will be doing during that time. Clown’s side project, the Black Dots of Death have a crazy, sadistic sound to them that I absolutely love. Sid Wilson is also apparently working on a solo project on the side. And I would love to see Joey Jordison and Wednesday 13 get back together for a 3rd Murderdolls CD.

If everything stays on schedule, there is going to be a ton of good music coming in the next few years and I can’t wait to get my next fix of both Stone Sour and Slipknot.

Q&A With Wednesday 13′s Jonny Chops

by on Jan.01, 2010, under Interviews, Wednesday 13

Q&A done with Jonny Chops of Wednesday 13

Shane – How did you get the name Jonny Chops?
Jonny Chops – Well, When I was 12, I made an AOL screen name called Jonny Chops. It was also my email, so as I met new bands and people, they always called me Jonny Chops. Even when I tried to change it, it just stuck with me. That’s how people introduced me when I joined bands, they never asked what I wen’t by. I think its kind of funny. I get just Chops now or Chopper.

Shane – Other than Wednesday 13 and Trashlight Vision, have you been in any other bands?
Jonny Chops – I’ve been playing in rock bands since I was 13. Started playing gigs at 14. I moved to NYC when I graduated high school and started really playing out more in the city. I started to tour and gradually moved up to bigger tours and bigger bands.

Shane – How long have you been playing the drums, and what got you interested in the drums in the first place?
Jonny Chops – I wanted to be a drummer when I was a kid, and my mom knew a drum teacher so she started taking me and really pushed it. I think she liked the guy and just used me as an excuse to see him, but hell I’m not complaining. I started playing drums when I was 6. I played all through school, into high school and marching bands. I auditioned for a few drum and bugle corps but my life never let it work, almost as if I wasn’t supposed to be doing that. There was always something else going on that got in the way. I got a really great teacher/mentor by the name of Mark Hopkins when I was 14 who really helped me pave my path.
