Avenged Sevenfold - Avenged Sevenfold

A7X

Released on October 30, 2007 Avenged Sevenfold released their fourth album to the fans that so hungrily awaited its arrival. This being my first Avenged Sevenfold album to buy, after listening to the songs several times, I have personally chosen my favorites.

The album starts with the first track "Critical Acclaim", this songs intro has a gothic feel, and during the opening, you also hear the stringed duo Zacky V. and Sinister G. display a small taste of their talents. The vocal styling's of M. Shadows accompanied with the band's drummer The Rev makes for a hair raising twisted. Both men are very talented vocalists, and their vocals accompany each other's to no end. The song gives the fans a good look at the band members many talents.

A Little Piece of Heaven

The second track on the album is the bands first single/video release from the album "Almost Easy" this song has killer drum tracks, as well as some powerful riffs from the guitarist and bass players of the band. The lyrics deliver a powerful message about how love can test a person's sanity. This song is one of my favorites from the album just the overall feel of the drums and the riffs from the guitars makes it pleasing to the ears.

"Scream" the third titled track from the album gives off a cocky vampire feel with a lyrical story of how the victim has wasted time running. The song has some excellent guitar riffs as well as bass lines that creates a powerful flow throughout the song.

Other catchy songs from the album are titles like "Afterlife","A little Piece of Heaven", "Lost", "Unbound (The Wild Ride)" , and "Brompton Cocktail". These songs all have some elements to them that make the listener consider placing their music players on repeat to sing along with the song.

If you are looking for the slow soulful songs on the album tracks such as "Gunslinger" and "Dear God".

"Gunslinger" starts with a bluesy country feel without the twang of the country vocal sound. Accompanied with acoustic guitars M.Shadow's vocals delivers a power lyrical approach. Passed the bluesy opening the guitars are brought in powerfully and are delivered powerfully, along with the drums and the bass guitars to help create a soulful blend of a well-created musical cocktail.

"Dear God" is also an acoustic style song from the album with a soulful edge that would give any fan a warm sense of purpose. This song gives that love song feel with the lyrics about missing a loved one with away on the road. The guitars and the sliders accompanied with a simple drumbeat helps create a meaningful sound that would encourage any listener to sing along with the album.

My overall opinion of this album is I would recommend it to other listeners based on the musical and lyrical content. The musicians of this band are clearly talented and they all appear to have worked hard on this album based on what you hear from the very first song to the very end of the album.
