This is a fictional story I do not know any of the members of the band Slipknot personally and I have never been romantically involved with any of them either.
Time For A Change – Chapter 1
The alarm sounded as Stacey awoke from her pleasant slumber. She was dreaming of her new life she was to start today since she was moving from the big city to Des Moines, Iowa. She had graduated college and decided she needed a break from her rushed hectic life in the city. It was time to move she thought to herself as she rolled out of bed and her feet hit the floor. She had stayed in a motel room that night since she had cleaned out her apartment and turned in her keys to the landlord the day before.
“Well Stacey, it’s time to shower and get going.” she said to herself.
She grabbed her overnight bag and tossed it onto the motel bed and unzipped the top of it. She pulled out a pair of broke-in jeans and a red Murder dolls tee-shirt. She laid her clothes out on the motel bed as she crossed the room to the bedroom door. She opened the door and proceeded to the shower. Stacey turned on the water as she felt of the temperature with her hands.
“Damn I’m good” she muttered to herself as she dried off her hand on a nearby towel.
She got into the shower and bathed herself quickly because she knew she was on a time constraint. Stacey shut off the shower water as she stepped out of the shower grabbing the towel hanging on the nearby towel rack. She dried herself off quickly as she walked to the bed and started to dress herself.
Once dressed Stacey reached in to her bag and pulled out her hair dryer and brush and made her way back to the bathroom. She stood in front of the mirror admiring her locks of mahogany hair accented by black and blonde streaks.
“Hmm … looks better dry” she critiqued herself as she stared in the mirror.
Stacey looked down at her watch and noticed her time was about to expire in the motel room she raced out of the bathroom shoving all her dirty clothes and her other belongings into her overnight bag and raced towards the door. She grabbed the keys on the way out the motel room door and she continued to run down the walk way to the front desk.
“Checking out?” the old man behind the front desk asked her.
“Yes sir.” Stacey replied.
The man behind the counter handed her the bill and she signed the credit card receipt that was attached to it. The man took the bill and gave Stacey her copy and she turned and walked away from the counter towards the lobby doors.
“Have a good day.” the man remarked.
“You do the same.” Stacey replied.
Stacey walked over to the U-haul truck she had filled with all her worldly possessions and climb into it; she fastened her seat belt as she stuck the key into the ignition switch. She then turned the engine to crank the U-haul as a local country station blared from the trucks speakers.
“MY GOD!” Stacey stated as she scrambled to turn down the radio.
“That’s gotta go” Stacey smirked in disgust.
She opened her back pack and pulled her Zune from her pack and proceeded to plug in the extensions so that her favorite mix of music would pipe through the trucks speakers. She turned the device on and music started playing, the first track made her smile as the DJ mix started. It was the Heretic Anthem by Slipknot.
“Now that is more like it” Stacey said with a smile as she started to sing along.
Stacey grabbed her map and looked it over quickly and then placed it aside and put the truck into drive. She pulled out on to the road heading back to the interstate headed for Iowa. She continued to sing along as she drove passing various exits and truck stops. She had driven nearly 75 miles before she noticed she hadn’t eaten anything for breakfast and it was near lunch time. Stacey decided it was time to stop off and grab a bite to eat at some local diner.
“Next exit is about 5 miles” Stacey remarked to herself
Once off the interstate she pulled the U-haul truck into the nearest diner and parked the truck in a truck sized parking space. Stacey climbed out of the truck and proceeded to the diner, she entered the diner and sat at a table near the door and looked over the menu quickly. The waitress approached the table bring a glass of water with her.
“What can I get ya to drink hunie?” the waitress said
“A diet coke and I know what I would like to eat as well” Stacey replied
“Okay hun, what will it be?” the waitress said as she looked down at her
Stacey placed her order and the waitress walked back to the kitchen calling out to the short order cook what she had written down. A few minutes later the waitress returned with Stacey’s drink and her sandwich.
“Here ya go hun.” the waitress remarked
“Thank you” Stacey replied
The waitress placed Stacey’s bill on the corner of the table and walked away, to see about the other customers in her seating area. Stacey finished eating grabbed her bill and stood up and stuck her hand in her pocket. She pulled out a couple of one dollar bills and placed them on the table for the waitresses tip and walked to the register. After paying her tab Stacey got back into her truck and pulled back onto the Interstate, she then turned the radio back on and hit play on her Zune and another great tune blared from the truck speakers. Stacey sang along with the mp3’s that generated one after another as she drive along the interstate.
Seemingly 3 hours later Stacey saw the “Welcome to Iowa” state sign. A wide smile crossed her lips as she muttered “Welcome to your new home Stacey.
